Myth

The Lockness monster was is a myth in Scotland. Growing up in a scottish house hold I was very familiar with the story. I decided for my next post I wanted to make a album cover for a scottish band and involve the Lockness monster in my cover.

My first step was to make some thumbnails and decide on the best one.

I saw something similar when researching online but decided not to use this thumbnail.

I liked the idea of a photograph because the photographic evidence is a big part of the legend.

My next step was to create the poloriod picture frame. I found this on google and used it as a reference.

I then went into Illustrator and began to make the frames.

After that was done I added some dirt in photoshop using some brushes.

Now that the frames are complete I began to work on the picture. I used this picture as a reference.

I started in photoshop by making the water. Many layers later this is what I came up with.

I added the sky and hill in the same way I did the water.

After I did the Background I began to work on the monster. I drew out what i wanted first.

I then took the image into illustrator and made a vector image of it.

In Photoshop I then added the monster in the picture and fixed it to work together and added some lightning and fog.

I then placed all the elements together and added text.

This is what I came up with.

Ocean

Ocean

I am creating a piece of art revolving around the word ocean.

Ocean Part 1

The first thing I did was research other artists work. I was amazed with the other pieces I found. For me this can be a little intimidating because the level of a lot of work I found was so above what I can create. I was inspired by the cartoon pieces.

My next step was to create thumbnails of what I wanted to create. I wanted to do something a little different then typical sea creatures, so I brainstormed some idea's out.

This is what I came up with

The first thumbnail is of a giant squid. Actually its a submarine in the shape of a giant squid.

My other thumbnails is a whale submarine. I do know that submarines are made to look like whales but I wanted this to look like more of a cartoon whale, maybe something an artist from the past would think   an underwater craft would look like.

There are a few things I would like to fix on these thumbnails but the basic concept is there. I am unsure how what media I an going to use for this but I think it will be something light, perhaps water-colour.

Ocean Part 2

My two favourite things in life are music and art. I've decided to make album covers going forward with this blog.

For my process I used pencil crayon and digital paint. I first drew all of my pieces on tracing paper.

I then created the background by making a rough pencil crayon drawing and then a digital background.

These are the two files meshed together

I then added all the elements together in photoshop

Ocean Part 3

After I created the artwork for this cover I then decide to make the font. I used the same background as the art work and placed it into the font.
